Ann Gowdey

Ann Gowdey, MSW, President of Ann Gowdey Consulting, LLC.  has 35 years’ experience in executive and organizational development.  Her consulting practice specializes in executive development, with a focus on developing women leaders in all professions at all levels.

Acting on her passion to help women overcome economic obstacles and lack of opportunities to succeed, Ann has partnered with Asnuntuck Community College and Leadership Greater Hartford to create ACC’s Women’s Leadership Institute. The Institute sponsors Launch Your Leadership Journey, a leadership program designed for women who desire to be strong leaders but for whom leadership development has not been either available or affordable. This program is in its 8th year and is now available to students at three CT community colleges.

Ann has held leadership positions in financial services, manufacturing, and government.  At United Technologies Corporation Ann led the global executive assessment and coaching function which achieved UTC ACE Gold status for program excellence.  As Acting Vice President of Human Resources at Connecticut Mutual Life, she led eight HR functions, two of which won Best Practice Awards from The Saratoga Institute. Prior to CML she led the leadership development function for The City of Eugene, Oregon. Ann also served in Connecticut state government on the staff of Governor Ella Grasso, as an internal consultant to state agencies.

In her consulting practice, Ann has coached over 300 executives, managers and HR professionals in Fortune 50 and Fortune 500 businesses, using her signature short-term, high-impact coaching method. She has supported strategic initiatives in diverse organizations through the design and facilitation of strategic planning, executive team building, executive assessment, leadership development, employee engagement activities, 360-degree feedback, executive selection and succession planning.

Ann is a founding member of The Conference Board’s Council on Executive Coaching and co-author of Guidelines and Ethical Considerations for Assessment Center Operations, (1989). Her clients include: Royal Bank of Canada, The Barnes Group, NASA, Merck, The Phoenix, The University of Hartford, Mystic Aquarium, Farmington River Watershed Association, Performance Programs, Inc., Community Renewal Team, Inc., NARAL, Community Catalyst, Inc., Otis, Carrier, Pratt & Whitney, United Technologies Corporation, Eurica Media Lab, Inc. and Aetna. Her speaking engagements include the Developmental Dimensions International Congress on Assessment Center Methods and the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychologists.
