OUR LEARNING APPROACH

Our program accommodates diverse learning styles while sequencing self-assessment, experiential classroom learning, reflection, discussion and action learning.

Our curriculum provides each student with a variety of opportunities to discover her leadership identity, values and purpose, as she develops leadership skills and a budding reputation as an emerging leader.

Self-assessment, reflection & discussion DEVELOP:

            SELF-Knowledge

Emerging leaders discover their leadership motives, values, purpose and ambitions. By developing self-acceptance, they learn to value their strengths, work on their under-developed competencies, and own their successes. In this process, student emerging leaders begin to solidify their leadership identities and the foundations for ethical leadership.

EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING DEVELOPS:

            SELF-CONFIDENCE

Classroom activities put student emerging leaders into unfamiliar situations. As they are stretched outside their comfort zones, they learn they can rely on their strengths to lead in any situation. They develop the self-confidence to take prudent risks, and stand up for their beliefs and values. In the process they earn the trust of others and gain courage to lead in sensitive and challenging situations.

action LEARNING DEVELOPS:

            SELF-ESTEEM

Student leaders discover the feeling of self-worth that comes from contributing to their world through leadership roles in social action projects serving their college or community. In this process, emerging  leaders mature to realize that leadership is part of who they are rather than a title or role in an organization.

ANN’S FAR REACHING KNOWLEDGE OF LEADERSHIP, WOMEN’S LEADERSHIP IN PARTICULAR, COMBINED WITH HER GENUINE CARE AND CONCERN FOR OUR STUDENTS ARE CRITICAL COMPONENTS TO OUR PROGRAM’S SUCCESS. WE KNOW IT AND THE STUDENTS FEEL IT AS EVIDENCED BY THEIR TRIBUTES AT EACH YEAR’S PROGRAM GRADUATION.
